SUMMARY:Annual Migratory Bird Census
DESCRIPTION:Preserve Manager Zane Miller guides this annual community-science effort to document birds at Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary. Two decades of data reflect impressive avian diversity; birders find an average of 50 species each year.   \nMariton includes various habitats for thrushes\, flycatchers\, tanagers\, and a dozen warbler species. The Migratory Bird Census offers a great opportunity to hone observation skills and learn more about the species that migrate through the region.  \nThe songbirds\, raptors\, waterfowl\, and shorebirds—about 300 recorded species—that rely on habitats under Natural Lands care are not just beautiful but also essential to the health of our planet. What’s more\, they are environmental indicators\, warning us of climate shifts and other ecosystem changes.   \nLearn more about what Natural Lands is doing for bird conservation. \n

SUMMARY:Mother Nature Retreat: Forest Bathing & Nature Journaling
DESCRIPTION:In today’s fast-paced world\, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to slow down\, breathe\, and experience the peace that nature offers.  \nJoin guide Stacey Vinci for a slow-paced\, sensory guided walk\, wander\, and reflection at Saunders Woods Preserve. Stacey’s relational and heart-centered approach can promote wellness and healing\, regulate the nervous system\, support the immune system\, prevent burnout\, and help strengthen our relationship with the natural world.   \nAs part of this restorative experience\, you’ll also have the opportunity to engage in nature journaling—whether through reflective writing\, sketching\, or both. Notebooks and colored pencils will be provided\, allowing you to capture your impressions of the natural world in your own creative way.  \nAll walks are invitational and trauma informed. We’ll wrap up the afternoon with a relaxing tea tasting and delicious light snacks\, the perfect way to unwind and savor the flavors of nature.   \nAbout the instructor: Stacey Vinci is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a certified forest therapy guide through the Association for Nature and Forest Therapy. Stacey has been in practice for 14 years supporting individuals\, communities\, and family systems in generational healing\, growth\, and change. Stacey facilitates embodied wellness through somatic\, trauma-informed\, and nature-based offerings.
