DESCRIPTION:The Organ Historical Society (OHS) and Natural Lands present First Friday Organ Concerts in the Main House at Stoneleigh: a natural garden. These noontime concerts feature Stoneleigh’s mighty Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ. Local organists will perform a selection of sweeping musical pieces surrounded by the elegant beauty of the Tudor-revival style home. Come for the music and stay for the beauty of the garden sure to dazzle with autumnal color. \nMina Choi is an award-winning musician who has shared her talent and passion with communities worldwide. Raised in Dallas\, she has earned degrees and various research opportunities from prestigious institutions worldwide: Royal College of Music in London (BMus)\, Yale University (MM)\, Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands (MA)\, Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart in Germany\, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (DMA). \nShe has received numerous awards and scholarships during her studies. Also\, Mina was First Prize Winner of Max Reger Organ Competition in Leeuwarden (the Netherlands)\, and Third Prize winner of Franz Schmidt International Organ Competition in Austria. She also performed at major venues in Europe including the Grosvenor Chapel and St. George’s Church (Hanover Square) in London; St. Lawrencekerk (Alkmaar)\, Oudekerk\, and Nieuwekerk in the Netherlands. \nMina has been an organist at the Doylestown Presbyterian Church (PA) since 2014\, and she also works at Princeton Theological Seminary (Princeton\, New Jersey) as the Coordinator of Worship and Music for the Seminary’s daily chapel services. We’ll wrap up the afternoon with a relaxing apple cider tasting around a cozy fire and delicious light snacks—the perfect way to unwind and savor the flavors of nature. \nAbout the instructor: Stacey Vinci is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a certified forest therapy guide through the Association for Nature and Forest Therapy. Dawn White\, owner and certified environmental educator with Indian Run Environmental Education Center (IREEC) will present an exciting program with live\, non-releasable owls. Discover their unique adaptations for survival. \nAfter the presentation\, we’ll take an owl prowl around the preserve by flashlight and call for Screech and Great Horned Owls. \nIREEC promotes knowledge and stewardship of Pennsylvania wildlife and its ecosystems through traveling educational programs that include live animals\, all of which are native to the United States. \nThis event is made possible by the \nCassandra O. and Dennis B. Lacey Performance Series. \nCrow’s Nest Preserve is located within the Schuylkill Highlands Conservation Landscape\, a place-based partnership administered by Natural Lands and funded in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources\, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
