SUMMARY:Wild Materials: Transforming Found Objects into Art - new date
DESCRIPTION:Sticks\, stones\, shells\, seeds\, feathers\, bark\, river glass\, found objects\, fibers\, paint…  \nUsing a playful mix of natural materials and unexpected treasures\, we’ll come together to create art. A selection of recycled wooden cigar boxes will be provided for you to choose from and transform. You don’t need to bring anything—however\, you’re welcome to bring small personal objects if you’d like to incorporate them into your piece.  \nEach participant will select a cigar box that will become the stage for imagination and playful making. Our instructor\, Lauren J. Silver\, will open the workshop with a brief introduction to her found-object artmaking practice. Together\, we’ll discuss our intentions for the workshop\, then settle into plenty of time to relax\, experiment\, have fun\, and create side by side.  \nThis workshop is beginner-friendly\, and no prior art or assemblage experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.  \nPlease note: we uphold “Leave No Trace” practices at our preserves\, meaning we take only memories with us. This policy will remain in place during the workshop. We encourage participants to bring found objects from home\, as no materials will be collected from the preserve during the event.  \nAbout the instructor: Lauren J. Silver is a Philadelphia-based\, mixed-medium artist and critical childhood studies educator. Her art draws upon found and reclaimed objects and assemblage approaches using fragments\, fibers\, scraps\, gifts from nature\, and discarded objects—mending them into something beautiful and whole. Lauren has been showing her art since 2022 across the Philadelphia region.

During this guided walk\, we’ll watch for migrating species\, observe local birds as they prepare for nesting season\, and take in the flutter of winged life returning to the landscape. \nLed by our preserve management staff\, you’ll get a personalized experience from someone who tends these lands on a daily basis. \nThe songbirds\, raptors\, waterfowl\, and shorebirds—about 300 recorded species—that rely on habitats under Natural Lands care are not just beautiful but also essential to the health of our planet. What’s more\, they are environmental indicators\, warning us of climate shifts and other ecosystem changes. \nLearn more about what Natural Lands is doing for bird conservation. \nCan’t attend this one? SUMMARY:Stardust! Summer Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Stardust: It’s literal. It’s metaphorical. And when it touches us\, it’s magical!  \nSoaring trees. Tranquil vistas. Gardens full of natural beauty and life. Let the magic of Stoneleigh awe and inspire you as we gather for Stardust—Natural Lands’ annual summer celebration—to help raise awareness of and support for our mission.   \nThe secret to Stardust’s magic? Being outdoors on a beautiful summer evening—wrapped in a stunning conserved landscape—for cocktails\, a roving supper\, and much merriment under the stars.  \nBut the night-of experience is only part of the magic. Natural Lands’ regional mission to provide land for life and nature for all is vital. And your sponsorship or ticket purchase will advance our highest priorities for saving open space\, caring for nature\, and connecting people to the outdoors and each other.  \nSo\, join us for the fun of it all. But know that your support has an impact\, and together we will make a difference. Today. And forever.

SUMMARY:Annual Nesting Bird Census
DESCRIPTION:Grab binoculars and join us in counting birds at Mariton. Since 1981\, staff and volunteers have conducted an annual nesting bird census to count the number of species and individual birds breeding at this 200-acre preserve.   \nThe census results serve as an important tool to help assess habitat management strategies. Healthy habitats sustain various nesting species\, including flycatchers\, tanagers\, thrushes\, and warblers. Mariton’s woodlands are particularly important to birds like the Wood Thrush\, which requires large forests for nesting. \n
