SUMMARY:Annual Nesting Bird Census
DESCRIPTION:Grab binoculars and join us in counting birds at Mariton. Since 1981\, staff and volunteers have conducted an annual nesting bird census to count the number of species and individual birds breeding at this 200-acre preserve.   \nThe census results serve as an important tool to help assess habitat management strategies. Healthy habitats sustain various nesting species\, including flycatchers\, tanagers\, thrushes\, and warblers. Mariton’s woodlands are particularly important to birds like the Wood Thrush\, which requires large forests for nesting.   \nThe songbirds\, raptors\, waterfowl\, and shorebirds—about 300 recorded species—that rely on habitats under Natural Lands care are not just beautiful but also essential to the health of our planet. What’s more\, they are environmental indicators\, warning us of climate shifts and other ecosystem changes.   \nLearn more about what Natural Lands is doing for bird conservation. \n

SUMMARY:Berks Trail Challenge Bilingual Hike
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to co-lead a special group hike at Green Hills Preserve in celebration of National Trails Day. This event is part of the Berks Trail Challenge\, a collaborative health and wellness initiative from Berks County Parks & Recreation and Tower Health\, now in its fourth year of partnership with Natural Lands. \nLisa Gaulker\, recreation and special events supervisor for Berks County\, and Natural Lands Preserve Manager Erin Smith will guide this hike alongside partners from the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club\, who are helping us offer Spanish-language interpretation—making this a fully bilingual hiking experience. \nEach site on the Trail Challenge hosts at least one organized group hike from May 1 through October 1. The challenge may be completed individually during that time frame\, but all trails may be enjoyed year-round. \nLearn more and register for the challenge today at Tower Health’s website. \nNo registration necessary for the hike at Green Hills.

SUMMARY:Soften & Surrender: Mini Wellness Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Are you looking for an opportunity to release your over-stimulated mind and over-taxed body? Take some time for yourself at our mini wellness retreat at Hildacy Preserve. Come gather with others in a safe and nurturing environment to help release unnecessary stress and renew your spirits.  \nDuring the session\, Christina Fittipoldi will lead us in a gentle yoga practice\, accessible for all\, and breathwork to support self-awareness.  \nIf the weather permits\, we will explore the beauty of Hildacy Preserve with a moving meditation connecting us to nature to soothe our souls.  \nWe will finish our morning with a sound bath with singing bowls played on and off the body for deep relaxation and grounding offered by Mindie Hung. The singing bowls grant the mind the opportunity to disconnect and turn inward.  \nAbout the instructors:   \nChristina Fittipoldi: Completed a 200-hour vinyasa yoga teacher training in May 2015 and began teaching a wide variety of asana movements at multiple studios. Eager to dive deeper\, she completed the 300-hour teacher training at Main Line Yoga Shala in December 2019 entitled “Agni Moksha.” She enjoys guiding students mindfully through safe and responsible movement using body and breath awareness\, allowing students to journey within.   \nMindie Hung: In 2017\, she became a certified vibrational sound therapy practitioner with the Vibrational Sound Association after her own healing journey began while experiencing the power of sound healing. Since then\, she has had many clients report feeling a deeper sense of connection to self\, feeling more relaxed\, better sleep and overall well-being. Some benefits of sound healing include improved mental focus\, reduced stress and anxiety\, and improved mood.
